Join the Data, Algorithms, and Social Justice working group for a workshop with the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (Urban Justice Center, NYC).
‘AI Bias & The Law’ will be a workshop aimed at informing participants of the current state of affairs in anti-surveillance technology efforts done by the Surveillance
Technology Oversight Project (STOP) in New York. Through sharing highlights of STOP’s previous and ongoing campaigns, we hope to enlighten participants on the different strategies used to combat the over-surveillance issues that come from AI tech bias. We will take a look at the Privacy NY campaign, hosted by STOP, that includes supported legislation that pushes back against the many faults of surveillance technology being deployed in public and private sectors.
The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) is a non-profit advocacy organization and legal services provider. S.T.O.P. litigates and advocates for privacy, working to abolish local governments’ systems of mass surveillance.
