About this Event

Welcome to Lockdown Stories Virtual Tours!

In our first tour, we would like to invite you to visit favela of Rocinha with professional guides tours, Erik Martins from ‘Rocinha by Rocinha’ Tours and Antônio Firmino from Sankofa Museum.

Erik’s tour provides a genuine experience in a favela with local people, but also with information about tour origins, trajectories, their struggles, culture, and the dynamics of Favela of Rocinha.

Antônio Firmino’s tour addresses the rich historical context of Rocinha as part of Leblon, an upscale neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. In the tour, he talks about who built the city acknowledging natives and enslaved people as part of our history and memories.

Tour guides will share their own stories about solidarity, community engagement, and raising awareness of the everyday issues that are happening within their favelas. Come along with us!

If you would like to know more about Erik, Antônio or other tour guides please visit our website at www.lockdownstories.travel.

See you soon!
